First of all, you are not a charity. You do not accept donations.
Secondly, it is a gift. Which is how you should think of it, when you spend the money think to yourself ‘My (bill of choice) being paid off is a gift. How nice.’
I tell him I do not want to waste my time on someone who is not legitimate and would like a gift to feel more comfortable (you can say monetary gift or be nonspecific and normally they will figure it out). Or I tell him I have just fallen in love with x at my most recent window shopping trip (make sure x costs AT LEAST 100 dollars).

Picture collectors are POTs that are a form of fake SDs. They are the type that will normally promise you the world (large allowance, lots of gifts, etc) but keep requesting that you send pictures, and won’t be content with just one picture or two. Some use clever tactics that charm new SBs into it, such as: “For every picture you send me, I’ll buy you a bikini.” “For every picture you send me, I’ll give you x amount of money.” “For every picture you send me I’ll give you x” Basically, a bunch of variations of the same bullshit.
Don’t by into their act, their lies. You’ll come across these fakers a lot but they’re definitely not worth your time or attention.
*Side note: There are rare instances where a man can appear to be a picture collector and be a real SD, but I’d say it’s more often the other way around.

Prostitution is illegal, sugar is not.
Sugar is having a man support you for your time and attention, it’s having someone make your life easier and SHOULD NEVER be solely about sex for money. That is not sugar, that is escorting (which is illegal in most states/places).
Dating for money is not illegal whatsoever. There’s websites like What’s Your Price that you can buy and sell first dates. There’s Seeking Arrangement, Sd4me, and a whole host of other sugar daddy websites that are perfectly legal as long as you use them correctly. If you get a message on any of those sites offering a pay for play “sugar” relationship then keep in mind that it could be a cop, although it’s unlikely.
